Working side by side in local high schools, they developed deep expertise in their fields. Along the way, they both tutored SAT students one-on-one and saw what truly drives improvement: not shortcuts or generic strategies, but real instruction tailored to each student. They realized something important — by combining their classroom expertise with their tutoring experience, they could do more together than apart. That's how Horizon SAT Prep was born.

Matt Fielder
Matt brings 25 years of classroom experience at Livonia Stevenson High School and over 15 years of SAT tutoring. He has spent thousands of hours analyzing the SAT, identifying patterns, and building effective strategies.
He has helped students gain admission to top universities, including the University of Michigan and Ivy League schools. His deep subject expertise and rare ability to connect with teenagers makes even the most complex reading passages feel manageable.

Paula Nowell
Paula has taught at Livonia Stevenson for 25 years and has over 15 years of SAT tutoring experience. As an AP Calculus BC teacher, she is known for making advanced math feel clear and approachable.
She built the Horizon math curriculum by studying the SAT deeply, identifying patterns, and designing instruction that builds real understanding — not just test-taking tricks, but genuine mathematical fluency.
